I love it when a bride tells me they are a planning an outdoor wedding. Even greater, I love it when a bride says she really wants the Gospel to clearly be seen and be the focus of their wedding day! This is one of the first things Sammi told me when I met her and she continued to say this throughout her wedding planning! This was such an encouragement to me!!! When I really think about how God sent his only son Jesus to die on a cross for us, His church, I am blown away by his SACRIFICE and LOVE for us. I am also convicted of how many times our marriages, my very own marriage, do not rightly display this beautiful picture. So thankful for His patience and forgiveness. HE loves us and is coming back to get us. Wow! Thank you Jesus!!! May all of our marriages strive through the power of His Spirit to make much of Him and to bring Him glory!
I love this quote that John Piper wrote in his book, A Momentary Marriage, and I hope it will be an encouragement to all the newly married couples as well as those who have been married a long time. 🙂
“Staying married, therefore, is not mainly about staying in love. It is about keeping covenant. “Till death do us part” or “As long as we both shall live” is a sacred covenant promise – the same kind Jesus made with His bride when He died for her.”
